Award-Winning Schell’s Hefeweizen Returns for Summer Season

The August Schell Brewing Co., the second-oldest family-owned brewery in the country, brewer of Schell’s and Grain Belt, have released the award-winning Schell’s Hefeweizen for a limited time.

Coming in at 5.5% alcohol by volume, Schell’s Hefeweizen is now available in 6-pack and 12-pack 12 ounce cans.

First brewed in 1984, Schell’s Hefeweizen is made with a blend of wheat malt and barley malts. August Schell uses an authentic wheat beer yeast culture, which gives the beer a fruity ale character dominated by a citrus-like tartness with notes of banana and clove.

Schell’s Hefeweizen has won many awards throughout the years and has become a staple in Schell’s seasonal lineup.

A traditional Hefeweizen is commonly known as the breakfast beer of Southern Germany. In Bavaria it completes the trio of Weisswurst and a pretzel. The Weisswurst, or white sausage, is made of veal and seasoned with parsley. It has a delicate flavor and is traditionally served with sweet mustard.
