MILLER HIGH LIFE LAUNCHES CONTEST FOR COUPLES WHO POSTPONED 2020 WEDDINGS

In normal times, wedding season would be in full swing, with countless couples preparing to say “I do.” But, like almost everything else this spring, the coronavirus pandemic has upended the plans of heretofore happy couples.

More than half of Americans who planned on getting married in 2020 are trying to change their wedding date, according to research from the Wedding Report cited by Bloomberg News.

While 2020’s wedding season will be different, Miller High Life is looking to bring some joy to couples whose nuptials have been affected. Today it’s launching its “Wedding at Your Doorstep” promotion, where three couples will win a social-distancing-approved wedding at their homes – plus $10,000 they can use to pay for their honeymoon, cancelation costs, and, of course, beer.

Winning couples will be able to toast their newly minted marriage status with Miller High Life’s limited-edition Champagne coupe cans, which will be available nationwide starting mid-May.

“As the Champagne of Beers, Miller High Life has a long history of being the Champagne for everyday life, and a proud part of weddings and celebrations. This was the inspiration for our new Champagne coupe cans, and now in this new era of wedding delays and cancellations, our way of bringing something positive to couples who are dealing with the stress of changing plans,” says Lucy Bloxam, associate marketing manager for Miller High Life.

Miller High Life will provide winning couples with a licensed officiant, photographer and food. It will also handle logistics and coordinate a video call allowing family and friends to join in.

“We’ll work with the couple to make sure the day is as close to what they envisioned as possible,” Bloxam says, adding that safety is the top concern. “We will follow local social distancing guidelines.”

To enter, couples should email a description of 150 words or less of how their wedding plans have changed in 2020, and how they still plan to celebrate with Miller High Life. Entries should be sent to marryme@millerhighlife.com, and include a photo of the couple, their ages and their state of residence. The contest runs through May 1, and winners will be announced May 5.

Couples must be age 21 or over with a valid marriage license. They must be available for a doorstep wedding ceremony by June 30. The contest is valid in all U.S. states, except Alabama, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Vermont and West Virginia.
